Meet Mark Janicello

Mark is a multiple Award-Winning, American Renaissance Man. A native New Yorker, there are very few corners of the entertainment universe that Mark has not worked in. He is trilingual (English/ German/Dutch) and has had a stage career spanning more than 30 years, including over 100 productions. Mark is a classically-trained operatic tenor, who sang over 40 leading roles in operas and operettas, while also studying acting for 10 years with a member of NY's Actor's Studio. He took a break from the stage and began working in filmed entertainments in 2013, and to date has appeared in more than 100 filmed projects. Over the course of his career, he has performed in 52 countries, recorded 39 CDs in every conceivable musical style.  

He is a Puccini Foundation Grant Awardee and was the first recipient of the Fleischer Music Prize from the City of Leipzig, Germany for his contributions to music and culture.  For his work as writer/director/lyricist and as Tony Finelli in The Finellis Movie (available on Amazon Prime & Apple TV, among others) Mark received more than 40 nominations and won 18 prizes at international film festivals during the 2020-2021 festival season.

He has written and produced successful stage- and touring productions throughout Europe, including the world-premiere musicals, (Elvis: The Musical, The Chameleon Concert, Be My Love: The Mario Lanza Musical, Charlie, Cloud 9, and The Great Caruso).  In 2022, he was commissioned to write a new play, Take The Bins Out, about Finley Whitmore, a man coming to terms with a diagnosis and oncoming blindness due to Retinitis Pigmentosa.  Bins celebrated its world-premiere at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe and Mark was nominated for BBC Writers Room/Popcorn Award for his play.    The Finellis Musical  which was based on the award-winning comedy The Finellis Movie, celebrated its world premiere in June 2024 at Wonderville in the heart of London's West End.  Ulf Weidmann, Mark's longtime writing partner wrote the music and Mark was responsible for the book, lyrics and direction.

Among his many talents, he has been blessed with a truly unique, extremely versatile singing voice. He’s had the honor to share the stage, microphone, or screen with such Show Business Legends as  Frank Sinatra, Liza Minelli, Bill Cosby, Chick Corea, Jody Watley, Jon Secada, Rock ‘n’ Roll Pioneer  Bo Diddley, Reggae Stars  Black Uhuru; operatic Superstars such as  Cecilia Bartoli, Edita Gruberova, Francisco Araiza, Anna Moffo  and  Alfredo Kraus; Tony-Award Winners/Nominees like Liz Callaway, Debbie Gravitte, Kiril Kulish  and  Judy Kaye; as well as Hollywood luminaries like  Anne Bancroft, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Alec Baldwin, among others.

In addition to his performing abilities, Mark is a talented painter with 13 international exhibitions to his name.  In the photo on the right, he is posing in front of his painting "Santa Maria" a portrait of operatic superstar Maria Callas that is adorned with 13,000 Swarovski Crystals.  He has worked as both a columnist for Hoop Doop Magazine, and as a theatre critic for Broadway World.

Mark has been vegan since 2004 and advocates for a plant-based lifestyle.
